WALKER
Lady Walker’s passion for the written word began with a gold star she earned for her first short story at the age of 8. From that point on, working with words was a foregone conclusion.
She studied at James Allen’s Girls’ School before going on to take a Bachelor of Arts Degree at University College London, then a Master of Arts Degree in Journalism at the University of London. She has also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Natalie began her career at Reuters, where she won her first accolade for an article about celebrity fashion designer Bruce Oldfield and his friendship with Princess Diana. The piece was published by Reuters globally and ended up on the front page of The Bangkok Post.
In a career spanning more than three decades, Natalie has worked around the world for some of the most respected names in the media industry including Reuters, Reuters Television, CNBC Europe, The Financial Times, CNN International and NHK World.
Natalie’s roles have included Presenter, News Anchor, Reporter, Producer, Senior Editor and Voice-Over Artist. She was awarded two prizes whilst at The Financial Times, has interviewed global heads of state, top politicians, notable CEOs, various celebrities and published a significant number of front-page articles.
In search of new challenges Natalie turned her hand to fiction, first studying creative writing at Oxford University and later taking a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing at Hong Kong University.
She has ghost-written two books, both of which ranked on Bestseller Lists, published in an anthology, and is now in the final stages of completing her debut novel. It’s a tale of devotion, disregard and deceit set against a backdrop that echoes her own travels. She hopes it will be worthy of the little gold star she still dreams of.
Natalie has lived in England, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, America, Brazil and Italy. She speaks five languages to varying degrees of proficiency, and enjoys travelling, singing, dancing, laughter and life in her spare time.
She published in her maiden name: Natalie Jacob-Schärli until she married her best friend, Phillip Lord, in 2003 after which she wrote as Natalie Lord. In 2022 she married Sir Malcolm Walker.
